Kaya Toast Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of white bread
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 tablespoons kaya (coconut jam)
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions:

  1. Toast the bread slices in a toaster or under the broiler until they are golden brown.
  2. Spread a thin layer of softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Spread a generous layer of kaya on top of the buttered side of two of the slices of bread.
  4. Top the kaya with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing down.
  5. Cut each sandwich in half diagonally to make four triangles.
  6. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sweetened condensed milk.
  7. Melt the butter in a non-stick pan over medium heat.
  8. Dip each triangle of sandwich into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides evenly.
  9. Place the triangles in the pan and cook until the egg is set and the bread is golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  10. Serve the Kaya Toast hot and enjoy!
